Classes
Turnout
This
is the beauty pageant of the show ring. A rider will have
to present himself and his horse or pony to the best of
his ability. The judges will look for cleanliness, neatness,
quality, correctness and fit of the horse's saddle and
bridle as well as the overall appearance and balance of
the horse and rider together.
These
classes are judged on general condition and cleanliness
of tack, horse and rider. The mane of the horse or pony
should be plaited. They are also judged mounted at the
halt and walk only.
Rider
Class
In
this event, a rider is assessed on his performance, correct
position, application of aids and his ability to 'ask'
the horse or pony to do what is required.
Ridden
Class
Here,
the horse's performances is judged. Its conformation,
paces, fluency of movement, calmness, ring manners', obedience
to its riders and ability to perform given tasks are asked.
Mounted
Games
Rescue Race
Each horse and rider
has an unmounted rider waiting at the other end of the
arena. At the signal, the horse and rider races down to
the end of the arena, pick up the second rider behind
and both riders then dole back to the finishing line.
The team with the fastest time wins.
Barrel
Race
Barrels
are set up in a clover leaf pattern and the rider must
ride a loop round the two side barrels starting with the
one on the right hand side. After finishing the loop,
he then rides to the barrel at the top and return to the
finishing line. The rider must follow the course plan
and go round all the three barrels the correct way. He
must cross both the starting and finishing lines. Again
the rider with the fastest time wins. In the event of
a tie breaker, the riders will have to do a `runoff".
Fancy
Dress Competition and Parade
This
is open to lil riders, horses and ponies and it is basically
a fancy dress competition for both the horse and rider.
