Course Layout

Golf @ Jalil

Golfers will be spoilt for choice with a wide selection of course layouts that encompass various distances, ranging from 168 meters to 532 meters. Golfers with different skill levels will be treated to many exciting golf holes as well as scenic views of undulating greens.

HOLE # 1

Hole 1 Par 4 / Index 5 - 363 meters

This first hole itself reflects the panoramic scenic beauty of the whole course, especially viewing from the championship tee-box near the club house. The tee boxes and green are designed for strategic play. A very bad hook will land the ball out of bounds into driving range on the left. The second shot requires an accurate middle iron shot onto the elevated green. To add to the excitement of the game, the green is large and undulating.

HOLE # 2 Hole 2 Par 5 / Index 1 – 496 meters

An example of one of the many exciting golf holes on the course which is a 496 meters par 5. The drive from the championship tee muse be straight down the middle because of its narrow fairway. To the left is out of bound beyond the perimeter fence, and to the right is the steep hill pond, strategically placed. Too long a drive and the ball goes into the pond and, if to the left, the next shot will be played from a hanging downward sloping lie. Most golfers have to play three well-placed shots to reach the slightly elevated green to play even par.

Hole 3 Par 4 / Index 7 – 356 meters

A straight forward Par 4. However a bad slice may land the ball in the pond of the second hole. This Par 4 provides the most characteristic green on this course. The boomerang shaped green roses gently from the approach and slopes towards the left. Any shots beyond the green may easily end-up in double bogeys.

Hole 4 Par 4 / Index 17 – 346 meters

The easiest Par 4 on the course. A straight drive from the elevated tee-boxes and the second shot will be of pitching wedge distance. There is no hazard except the two huge bunkers left and right of the green.

Hole 5 Par 4 / Index 3 – 382 meters

The longest Par 4 on the course. This is the only fairway with a clump of the original rubber trees almost at the centre of the landing area. Therefore, the drive must be fairly long and well placed in order to have a perfect second shot to the green which is sloping away toward the buggy track at the 6th tee-boxes.

Hole 6 Par 3 / Index 13 – 168 meters

An averagely short and interesting Par 3. Directly in front of the green is the huge pond. On the left of the green is the deepest bunker on the course. If the ball lands in the bunkers, it will definitely be a blind shot to the flag.

Hole 7 Par 5 / Index 15 – 450 meters

The shortest Par 5 on the Bukit Banang course. A long hitter may make it to the green in two. The terrain is uneven with OB to the right and hilly mounds on the left. The green is strategically guarded by 2 bunkers in front.

Hole 8 Par 3 / Index 9 – 215 meters

This is the first nine’s signature hole of the Bukit Banang Golf & Country Club. The hole looks simple and easy to play but it is 215 meters long and will take an average golfer at least 1 wood to reach the slightly elevated green. The approach is protected by a huge Bermuda grass bunker and a sand bunker on the right side. The ball has no chance to run onto the green due to the thick grass in front of the elevated green. The only way is to carry and drop the ball on the green. The left side of the fairway is out of bounds and midway is a clump of forest trees which can be furnishing for mishit stray shots.

Hole 2 Par 4

Hole 9 Par 4 / Index 11 – 403 meters

This Par 4 makes you work hard for a decent approach shot. Your drive from the Championship tee-box has to carry at least 170 meters before you can see the flag on the green. This hole is a dogleg left flanking the high surrounding of the proposed bungalow lots.

Hole 2 Par 4

Hole 10 Par 4 / Index 10 – 318 meter

The 10th Par 4 creates a nervous start on the second nine, especially for the average players. From the blue Championship tee-box, one must carry the lateral stream which is approximately 160 meters away. Immediately across the steam to the left is the largest fairway bunker on the Bukit Banang Golf Course.

Hole 11 Par 5 / Index 8 – 468 meters

A long Par 5 where the water again presents a danger on the left and centre of the fairway and also towards the approach of the elevated green. The green is strategically located on a small hillock with bunkers on both sides. You need an accurate third pitch shot to the green.

Hole 12 Par 4 / Index 2 – 388 meters

This long Par 4 is rated as the most difficult hole because it is relatively long. The fairway is relatively narrow with OB on the left and strategically placed fairway bunkers and mounts. For the second shot you need a long iron to carry the ball across the stream to the green which is protected on both sides by clumps of bamboo trees. This green is specially designed with a deep depression which makes it very tricky.

Hole 13

Hole 13 Par 3 / Index 14 - 168 meters

The loveliest hole on this course for most local and visiting golfers. A simple Par 3 of approximately 140 meters – blue tee. Immediately in front of the green is a huge man-made pond which is aesthetically lined with old railway slippers. Playing on a windy day it can be very tricky from the slightly elevated tee-box.

Hole 14 Par 4 / Index 16 – 307 meters

An average Par 4 with the narrowest fairway on the course. It’s better to plan an accurate controlled shot either by using an iron to tee-off, or at most – a wood 3. The second shot to the green then requires only a medium iron shot. However, the undulating terrain and small mounts at landing zone makes the approach shot to the green tricky.

Hole 15

Hole 15 Par 4 / Index 12 – 358 meters

This is a very challenging Par 4 dogleg to the left. Here the water comes into play as the stream runs laterally from mid-way which is just before the landing zone and continues on the left side right up to the green. The elevated leftward sloping green is only visible from the second shot. A good looking iron shot is needed to collect a par here.

Hole 16

Hole 16 Par 3 / Index 18 – 178 meters

A straight forward Par 3. A typical Japanese designed fairway with numerous small mounts for beautification purpose. The green is huge and makes putting difficult as the green is slopes rapidly away to the right.

Hole 17

Hole 17 Par 5 / Index 6 – 532 meters

This is the designer’s signature hole. The only Par 5 with an island green to be found in this Bukit Banang Golf & Country Club. An averagely long Par 5 provides deceptive challenge for players and low handicappers who try to reach the green in two. This hole plays downward from an elevated tee-box and water hazards come into play on the right and left. The green is completely surrounded by a lake beautifully designed for accurate placement shots.

Hole 18

Hole 18 Par 4 / Index 4 – 357 meters

The 18th is an interesting furnishing hole. The undulating terrain, ponds and intimidating hazards are specially designed for risky play but rewarding for those who succeed. The tee-shot has to carry the pond which is directly in front of the tee-boxes. The fairway slopes uphill all the way to the club house hole. The green is sculptured out of the side of a hill with a multi-tiered green which is by itself intimidating.
